In this post I want to show you how to get people from outside [the website] to come visit your cam show and eventually get more viewers as a webcam model.
Webcam Model Social Media
The most obvious place to look for more potential viewers is social media. We all know the impact it can have on things and what happens when posts go viral. If you have no idea yet, let me be the one to say it can make a massive difference.
As you know, JezebelCams is also active on social media and a viral tweet or post can make the difference between having a couple dozen clicks on an article or a couple of hundred clicks.

There’s a different technique for every type of social media to gain followers and I’ll be going over every viable option in this post shortly. If you want a deeper explanation and tips for a certain social media platform, I will provide a link to another, more in-depth, article for each platform.
However, I will start off with some general tips that are handy for any kind of social media as a webcam model.
What you can or can’t post on social media as a webcam model
First things first, managing your social media can take a lot of time! If camming is your full-time job, you can schedule your day in a way that you have time to update all your social media profiles. However, if you don’t have that time, you’ll have to pick. Which social media platform(s) are you going to put your time into? Let’s have a look at the social media platforms that allow adult content vs. the ones that only allow mildly erotic stuff.
Platforms that allow adult content BEST OPTION
One of the best places to start if you want to get into social media as a webcam model is Reddit. Okay, it might not really look and feel like the other social media platforms out there, but trust me when I say you should give it a good try. The beauty of Reddit is that all the work has already been done for you, now it’s time to take advantage of it.
Making a profile is easier than making pie, simply follow the instructions and within a few minutes you’re good to go. Before you post anything, go ahead and make your profile look nice. Add your own photo, fill in the information, etc. Reddit allows you to be open and honest about what your intentions are. This means you can simply let everyone know you do cam shows and even put your link in your bio. However, the link in the bio will not be clickable.
To give people easy clickable links, you’ll have to make a post. This post doesn’t have to be posted in a subreddit. Just make a post for your own profile and add the links in there. After that, make sure to pin it at the top so that people who visit your profile see that post first.
Now it’s time to post your content on Reddit. Simply post a sexy picture or short video on a subreddit that suits the content. After that, crosspost it around to other subreddits and watch the likes stack up. Within days you’ll have dozens of followers and potential viewers.

For me, Twitter is ranked second of the social media platforms that allow adult content. If you only had one hour to spend, my advice would be to spend 45 minutes on Reddit and 15 minutes on Twitter.
The reason is conversion. If your post goes viral on Reddit, you’ll get a huge boost from that, whether it’s followers or viewers. However, you could have thousands of followers on Twitter and only a handful will click your links.
The upside of Twitter is that it is simpler than Reddit and has fewer limits. Where you need to be careful not to crosspost too much and read the guidelines of every subreddit on Reddit before posting, with Twitter you are free to do as you like. Simply make a new tweet with sexy content, give it some popular hashtags and sit back. Don’t forget to mention other users who could help your tweet go viral!

Platforms that DON’T allow adult content MOST RISKY
The following platforms all have one thing in common: They don’t like adult content. This means that if you post nude pictures or even suggestive pictures of yourself on their website or app, you risk getting banned. Promoting your cam show on these platforms is really like walking on eggshells.

Do I advise against using these platforms then? Not really. Posting sensual content and strictly softcore stuff is allowed most of the time. Just keep in mind that the platform holds all the power in these cases. If they see your content and decide it’s too much, they ban you and all your work is lost. This is why I advise you not to spend too much time on these platforms and diversify! This way, if you lose one of your accounts, it won’t be a big hit on your numbers.
You’ve probably heard what happened to Tumblr a few years back. They removed all porn and banned accounts posting porn from their platform. Guess who had more than 50k followers? Yeah, JezebelCams did. We lost a huge chunk of our visitors over night, but we did learn a lesson. Since then we’ve put our eggs in different baskets and so should you!
TikTok
This app allows you to make small videos with a lot of possibilities when it comes to editing. It also has many trends that come and go all the time. My advice is to check out what kind of trend is hot at the moment and give it your own sensual twist. Just make sure you keep your clothes on and don’t go too far!
Looking at how popular TikTok is right now, you’ll have a pretty easy time growing your following.
One thing to keep in mind is the user base of the social media platform that you use. For example, the average user of TikTok is very young. Almost 30% of its users are under 18 years of age. Please make sure that it’s clear from your profile that your content can be quite sexy. You really do not want to attract the wrong group of people. Not only would this be a huge waste of time, it’s simply wrong to do so if your ask me.
This platform is more about pictures and updates on your life outside of your webcam modelling job. Of course, you can use it however you want. Post sexy and sensual pictures all you want. However, sometimes you have to play a bit with the expectations of the audience.
Many content creators use Instagram to give their followers a glimpse of their actual life outside of their job. Of course, most of it is still all staged and simply meant to gather more followers and viewers, but we like to believe it, right? If you use all the other platforms already to post adult or sexy content, perhaps use Instagram in a different way. This will give people an actual reason to follow you on there.

Facebook & YouTube
These two are really the big bullies of social media, aren’t they? How many people do you know who can’t keep their eyes off their phone? And what are they doing? I bet that 75% of the time they are either scrolling through Facebook or watching a video on YouTube. When you want to promote something, one of these is probably the first thing you want to go to, right? Well, not if you’re a webcam model.
See, when it comes to promoting adult content, Facebook and YouTube are tried, tested and, well.. dumped. Facebook has become extremely good at detecting content that doesn’t belong on their website and banning the creator of it. YouTube’s conversion rate when it comes to adult content is simply awful.
As mentioned before, managing your social media platforms takes a lot of time. It really comes down to how much time you’re willing to put into something and what you get in return. If you spend 30 minutes on Reddit posting and crossposting your content and you get 20-40 more viewers on your next show, that’s a pretty decent investment (especially when it snowballs). However, coming up and creating content for Facebook and especially Youtube alone might take 30 minutes and I guarantee it doesn’t convert as well as other platforms.
It’s a simple equation of Time + Effort = Money/Viewers and in this case, Facebook and YouTube just aren’t worth it.
Tumblr
I’m going to be short about this one. Avoid it. The only reason you still see it being mentioned is because of their reputation a couple of years ago. If you’re not up to date about their situation, let me fill you in. A couple of years ago Tumblr decided they didn’t want to have blogs promoting porn anymore on their website. Whatever the reason, they were dead serious about it and a massive amount of blogs and blog owners got deleted and banned. No alternative, just gone.
In the very early days of this website, I used to have a couple of accounts on Tumblr and it worked like a dream. However, even back then they would randomly ban accounts without any communication. Since I’ve lost my 50k account on Tumblr I ran and I’m never coming back there.
Put your valuable time into other platforms.
This is another one I see being mentioned here and there. If you’re a regular content creator it might be a good place for you. If you’re a webcam model, I’d say don’t even bother.
The only slightly erotic posts on Pinterest you’ll see are art. This is the only exception to nudity they have. If you try to find the border of what is and what isn’t allowed, good luck. When you only slightly step over the line, they’ll ban your account without a warning. Do you see a recurring theme here?
Snapchat
I do not have experience with the following social media platforms. From the outside, Snapchat could perhaps be a viable option for you to promote your cam show on. Or, at least promote yourself and then lure your followers into watching your webcam show. Of course, your followers can see your snaps and your stories, so it’s easy to update them. When it comes to gaining followers through the app itself, I simply do not have the knowledge to help you with that.
If you’re a good-looking female, I’d say give it a try. I’m sure a lot of content you make for TikTok can easily be copied over to Snapchat so it won’t take a lot of time managing this social media platform. Me, as a normal dude promoting a blog and free cam shows, I don’t even bother.
WeChat & QQ
As I said earlier, gaining more viewers as a webcam model is about standing out and reaching an untapped source of potential viewers. Here is a suggestion for you that might actually work. As with all the other social media platforms in this section, you’ll have to be careful. Both of these platforms don’t allow your to openly flaunt your goods around. So, just make things slightly sexy whatever you do.

However, these two platforms do have the ability to gain followers within the platform. Meaning you can spice up your profile and create content that can be shared and seen by everyone within the app.

Promising social media platforms BEST INVESTMENT
If you’re happy with Reddit and Twitter (Because they allow any kind of content), but you need more options without having to be careful or second-guess every post you make, here are two other options.
NewTumbl
As the name suggests, it’s basically a new Tumblr. When the old Tumblr decided they didn’t want to host porn anymore, this website took over that branch. It looks like Tumblr, it feels like Tumblr, but it’s not actually Tumblr.
So, it allows people to create a blog and share porn, “what’s the catch?” you might think. The only two downsides I’ve found so far are that they don’t have a huge amount of users yet, and the website is a tad slow.
This is why this social media platform would be a great investment if you start building it up right now. NewTumbl was already mentioned as a Tumblr alternative a couple of years ago. Among the alternatives were other websites. However, most of the other Tumblr alternatives have since then given up. After years, NewTumbl is still going and even thriving.
Sharesome
Another social media platform for webcam models is Sharesome. Just like NewTumbl, they allow you to create a microblog and post your own content. In fact, you can create several microblogs right off the bat.
The content that you post will basically share itself around, just like Twitter. I’ve been using it for a while and gaining likes and followers seemingly out of nowhere. Without using any hashtags or sharing, my content has made its way around the website anyway.
You can easily put links in your profile and even in the description of your microblogs, which is great for linking other social media platforms or your website.
Free website creation SEO BOOST
You see me mention it a couple of times; accounts being banned without any communication or warning. What if you don’t want all of that? What if you want to go more independent and always have some sort of base to fall back on? The answer is to create your own website.
Before you run away thinking this is not for you, I ask you to keep on reading because it’s not as difficult as it sounds.
I’m mostly talking about websites that offer you to create a simple free website with very simple tools. If you’re able to create and update a Facebook (or MySpace) account, then you’re able to create a simple website with the use of their tools.
If you go to these websites and simply create a page/website about yourself, you could gain quite a lot of viewers simply by having that. It can just be a static page and it doesn’t have to be updated every week.
I’m not going to go into detail about SEO. All you need to know is that you need to try to create a spiderweb when it comes to linking your social media profiles and your website. Put a link to your website in your Twitter’s bio, and another link in your Sharesome profile, and yet another link in a post on NewTumbl. Then, from your website you link back to those profiles again. This is how SEO works in a nutshell. Google sees the link and your chance of being on top at a Google search just went up a notch.
Blogger
I had to explain a tiny bit about SEO to you because one good reason to create a Blogger website about yourself has to do with SEO. Blogger is already part of Google. Any links going out from your Blogger website are strong links, meaning Google loves them. You also don’t need to worry if people can find your Blogger website, because Google always makes sure your website gets indexed in their search engine.
You can’t really do anything wrong with Blogger and linking from your Blogger website to your other social media profiles (or websites) will give them a nice boost, no matter the content. You can make a simple website with some links and then leave it, Blogger doesn’t delete them either.
Go ahead and do a Blogger website search on Google. Guaranteed you’ll stumble upon blogs that haven’t been updated in years but Google still shows them in their search results.
Site123
Another platform I haven’t used but from what I can see, It’s not so different from Blogger. They claim they are one of the easiest places on the web to create a website so I guess it’s worth putting that to the test.
If you are going to use both Blogger and Site123, I do want to advise you to not simply copy your Blogger content and paste it into your Site123 website. Google really hates duplicate content so try to avoid that. Simply rewrite the content if you’re happy with the overall message and then paste it. Google is good, but the human mind is still able to write the same text twice with different words without Google realizing it.
WordPress
Last but not least for this list of “social media” options is WordPress. Many people associate WordPress with a paid website and a professional way of doing things. Well, they are indeed professional and creating a WordPress website is a bit more difficult than Blogger or Site123, but it can be done for free!
You can create a free WordPress website and still get many of the benefits other WordPress websites enjoy. However, if you’re going for the free option you should probably only use your WordPress site for links to your other profiles.
Using Video Tubes
Another great way to get more traffic from outside your cam site is the use of video tubes. As a webcam model, you’re in the amazing position that you already have a great setup to record sexy videos. Instead of using all of your time doing live shows, you could record 1 or 2 videos a week and upload them to a porn video tube. You’ll create a win-win situation for yourself! Let me explain why.
Pick the correct websites to upload your webcam show videos
To make things easier for myself, I’m going to assume you already have content (or that making content isn’t a problem). Where are you going to upload it now? The obvious answer would be the most popular porn tubes. And I would agree that this is a very smart choice. However, I do advise you to do more than just quickly upload your video and hurry to the next website to upload another. You should take a bit of time to polish your profile on those porn tubes. One thing you should absolutely do is put the link to your cam site profile in the profile of the porn tube. Add an avatar of yourself, a nice description, etc. etc.
Don’t go overboard trying to upload your video to every porn tube out there! Many porn tube websites have brother and sister sites to which they copy their videos for more views and income. In fact, you shouldn’t be surprised if some individuals copy your video and post it somewhere else. Some people hate this and if you’re one of those people you might want to skip this method. If you go for this method then you have to be realistic and accept the high chance your content gets copied and posted somewhere else.
It is for this reason I always recommend to put watermarks on your videos! This reduces the chance of someone copying your video and, if they do copy your video, your name and link (the watermark) still get promoted.
You’ll earn an extra income uploading webcam show videos
As I said, this method will create a win-win situation. Not only do you promote yourself to people who love watching sexy webcam models, you’ll also earn an extra income with the videos you upload. This is why it’s important to take this method serious when you choose to go for it. You need to understand that if you want this to work, you’ll have to be very consistent. If uploading 2 videos a week (Adding titles, slight editing, etc.) sounds like a lot of extra work, you’re not going to be able to keep up with it. Starting slow with 1 or 2 videos a month might be a better choice. It takes time and effort but once you’ve got it all set up you’ll have a nice bit of extra cash every month.
Join forums as a webcam model
The last method for getting more viewers from outside of your cam site is to join forums and/or discussion boards. This method will combine some SEO with just regular promotion.
There’s a few webcam model forums out there which you can find by simply using google and typing something like “webcam model forum”. I suggest you join those forums as your webcam model alias. Don’t forget to polish your profile! If they allow your to put your link somewhere on your profile, then do it. Google will pick this link up and so will curious visitors. Also, many forums allow you to add some kind of signature that gets shown under every post you make, so use that to promote your cam show and get more viewers as a cam model!
You might be thinking “But these forums only have other webcam models, they’re not going to visit my webcam show!”. It’s true that these forums are mostly only for webcam models. However, many potential viewers also look for and join these forums. All you have to do is look around and you’ll see many people asking questions to models because they are curious about stuff.
I recommend having a look over at AmberCutie and WeCamGirls.
And, as mentioned before, even if you don’t get a lot of extra viewers this way, the links in your profile will help when it comes to SEO. If you put all the links together from all these methods, whatever page or website you’re trying to rank on Google will get a huge boost.
