5 Reddit Self Promotion Tips For Models – Gaining Tons Of Followers

Not long ago I wrote an article explaining how to get more viewers as a webcam model. I spent a lot of that post explaining about social media and which are worth putting your time and effort into. Reddit is the kind of place you want to invest your energy in when it comes to self promotion as a cam model.

These tips will be in random order and there is no need to follow them by the letter. In fact, I encourage you to take the information below and try to put your own little sauce on it. Being unique is one of the things that will get you the most attention in an ocean full of other models.

1. Make your profile ready for promotion and followers

Alright, so I just told you these tips will be in random order, but this tip is so crucial that I had to start with it and so should you.

Imagine opening a shop that’s completely empty. You go out and promote your business all over the place, handing out flyers, samples, buying advertisement space, etc. And as soon as some people enter your shop, they see it is completely empty. How do you think those people will react? They will walk away because your shop did not fulfill their expectations of the advertisements.

Now, you might think I gave you this example to push you into filling out your profile right now, but you would only be half right. Yes, I want you to go ahead and fill out your profile, but I also want you to do that while keeping your customers in mind.

That having said, let’s talk about the steps you need to take to make your profile feel complete.

A. Fill out the basic information

Go to your profile by opening the menu in the right top corner and clicking on ‘Profile’. On the right side of the page that opens, you will see your username and to the right of that a cogwheel. Click on the cogwheel to edit your basic information. A page should open with the title ‘User settings’.

Usually, you are not able to pick the exact username that you want when you make an account on Reddit because it is already taken. Well, on this page you can change your display name. Your username doesn’t change, but you can decide what name people see when they click on your profile. Having spaces here is just fine, so calling yourself “Cammie The Camgirl” when your username is u/camcamgrl is possible!

3 things to change in your reddit profile before promoting

After this, go ahead and type something in the ‘About’ section. This is where you can explain that you are a cam model and you can even put your link in here. Whether you put your link to your camroom or your onlyfans I leave up to you. Keep in mind that this link is NOT clickable, so the “click-through” rate for this link will be quite low. However, Reddit allows you to type a link here, so don’t be afraid to do that. Don’t worry about not having a clickable link, I will show you exactly how to get one later.

Add a profile picture and a banner picture, make sure they are nice and sexy so that people know who they are following.

When you’re finished with that, go back to your profile.

B. Add a clickable link

Your goal here is to get people to the place where they can watch your content and spend money. It sounds a bit crude but this post isn’t going to be helpful if I beat around the bush.

We are going to make it easy for people to visit the page that you are promoting right now.

On your profile page, click on New Post.

Give the post a correct title like ‘OnlyFans link’ or ‘Camroom link’. There is no need to hide what you are offering and no need for sweet talk. People who know that you are a model and want to visit your page are actually looking for this kind of link, so please make it easy to find.

Speaking of camrooms, have a look at my Cam Model Lighting Tips.

In the text box, put the link to your page.

Click on ‘Post’.

Go back to your profile page and refresh the page. You will now see this post on your profile and other users can see it too. However, there is one more important step!

On the post, click on the 3 small dots next to each other. A menu will pop out, click on ‘Pin post to profile’. Now, this post will be pinned at the top of your profile and will stay there until you unpin it.

2. Use watermarked content

If you’re going to make and promote content on the internet, you better make sure it is “protected”. You don’t have to be a big company to watermark your stuff because it really isn’t just for protection. It’s not always a bad thing to have your content shared by other people than you.

When you watermark your photos, gifs, or short videos, make sure that the watermark is in the right place. This may sound silly, but your first thought might be to put your watermark in a corner somewhere. However, people who want to steal your content and act like they are you will simply crop out your watermark and claim the thing as their own. It’s better to put your watermark near the center of the picture. Play with it, you don’t have to keep it horizontal. Many models put their watermark on their leg and there are even some who cover their private parts with their watermark.

The goal of your watermark is not really the same as big companies. Big companies use it mainly as proof that the content is theirs. They usually have lawyers and watchdogs to sniff out people and websites who use their content illegally. Your goal should be to promote yourself and/or tease your audience. Remember that we want to get people to come to your page where they can spend money. If you give them everything they want on Reddit, there is no reason for them to pay for more content.

So, in short:

  • Put your watermark on your content in a place that either teases the audience or is impossible to crop out.
  • Your watermark makes sure that you are promoted even when people share your content without your knowledge.
  • You can tease the audience by placing the watermark on top of your private parts.

Your watermark should probably simply be your username, for example; u/camcamgirl.

3. Go easy on the crossposting!

I like to focus on the things you should do rather than the things you shouldn’t, but I’m afraid many models are going to lose their account if I don’t mention this one.

Crossposting is a very powerful tool that you should use to promote yourself. Any guide to self promotion on Reddit will tell you to find relevant subreddits and crosspost your content there. However, what many websites fail to tell you is that crossposting in subreddits that don’t accept crossposts will get you banned in no time!

What many websites fail to tell you is that crossposting in subreddits that don’t accept crossposts will get you banned in no time!

This is the tricky part of promoting yourself. Ask anyone the question: Which subreddits allow crossposting and my kind of content? Nobody is able to give you a correct answer. The ones who do know have gained that knowledge through trail and error and will not share this knowledge with you because this is worth gold.

How do you find subreddits that allow you to crosspost your content? I can tell you exactly how because I’m not a model myself so I have no business to lose by telling you this well-kept secret.

A. Go to a subreddit that is all about amateur sexy girls. For example: r/SlimAndStacked, r/GoneWild, or Nude_Selfie, just to name a few.

B. Join these subreddits and type their names in a notepad file that you save on your computer.

C. Visit the subreddits and click through to the profiles of other models who are crossposting their pictures.

D. In their profiles, look where they are crossposting their content.

E. Repeat step B,C, and D.

Now, the next thing you probably want to do is start crossposting your content to all these subreddits. Congratulations, you just got your account BANNED. Yeah, don’t go crazy on the crossposting right away!

One model might be able to crosspost her content in a certain subreddit, but that doesn’t mean that you are allowed to crosspost in the same subreddit.

Please go easy on the crossposting and just choose 3-4 subreddits first. Do they all accept your crossposts? Great! Make sure you make a note of that in your notepad file. Just wait 24 hours and then try another 3-4 subreddits. Keep repeating this process until you have a nice list of subreddits to crosspost your content to.

4. Crosspost from your own profile

If you don’t know how crossposting works and what the effect can be, please read this part carefully.

Crossposting was invented for people to easily share content from one subreddit to another without having to upload the same content over and over again. However, people are using it to promote themself, their subreddit, their business, etc. etc.

If you post your first post in a subreddit, and then start crossposting from there, you are basically promoting that subreddit. Is that a bad thing? Not really, but wouldn’t you rather promote your own profile?

So, if you are going to post some new content on Reddit, please go to your own profile and make a new post there. Upload your photo, gif, video, give it a nice title, and hit post. You can also add a reply to your own post asking people to visit your profile or something.

Go back to your profile, click ‘share’ and click ‘crosspost’ on the menu that just popped out. Now you are promoting yourself, and people who click on the original post will get sent to your profile.

5. Have your sales pitch ready

If you’ve ever watched The Office, you know how important a sales pitch is and how salesmen prepare, practice, and update them. Well, even though The Office is a hilarious mockumentary, you should always be ready to jump on any potential buyer.

thats-what-she-said-office

As bad as it may sound, you really are selling yourself. However, your competition is very fierce and you still need to convince a lot of people to buy “your product”. Luckily for you, you don’t actively have to seek out potential buyers like they do in The Office.

Once you start your self promotion on Reddit, you are guaranteed to get a lot of chat requests. All these requests are potential buyers, NOT potential friends.

Once you start your self promotion on Reddit, you are guaranteed to get a lot of chat requests. All these requests are potential buyers, NOT potential friends.

My advice would be to type out a text of about 2-3 sentences in which you try to convince the reader to visit your page. Read and re-read this text, edit it, perfect it until you believe it’s the best sales pitch you can think of. Save it in a notepad on your computer.

Now, every time you get a chat request, simply copy and past it in the chat. If he replies and tries to have a chit chat, ignore it for your business’ sake. If he isn’t going to visit your page after your “sales pitch”, he’s never going to spend his money, simply move on.

My thoughts on some frequently suggested ideas:

1. Interact with people replying on your posts

I believe that this is a waste of time and you can do more valuable things with your time. If you compare someone replying to your post to someone trying to chat with you, I’d say the person trying to chat with you has much more potential to be a buyer than the person replying to your post. Put your time into the right person. I’ve seen models on Reddit with thousands and thousands of followers and they never reply to anyone openly.

2. Use analytic tools

While you can use a lot of free tools to analyze your promotion on Reddit, I don’t really think it’s worth putting a lot of time into it, let alone money. If you follow the tips in this article, it will work, this is absolutely guaranteed. You can crosspost for months and months and gain thousands of followers, there is no need to analyze your process since you’re simply doing things that have worked ever since Reddit has been around.

3. Posts different content in different subreddits

This is something I do support. When you crosspost, don’t crosspost the same picture over and over and over again. It’s really worth adjusting your content to the subreddit you’re posting in. You’ll get many more upvotes, and if anyone visits your profile, they won’t see you crossposting the same content over and over again which is simply really annoying.
